Locating A Cosmetic Dentist In Pasadena

March 3rd, 2010 Calista Hoyle Posted in Health No Comments »

The procedures of cosmetic dentistry continue to increase in popularity, partly because of a fashion-conscious society and a celebrity-obsessed entertainment culture. Famous people appear on the big screen wearing big smiles that show off clearly the care and work that has gone into their teeth. Print media also showcase such role-models with robust and shiny pearly whites.

The effect of popular media have broadened the appeal of these benefits. In Southern California and Pasadena, one can find a number of dentists who specialize in these procedures, sometimes even in combination with other specialties like pediatric dentistry or emergency dentistry.

What can one expect from the office of the cosmetic dentist? The arsenal of a cosmetic dentist is quite rich and varied, but they share in common the objective to correct visual problems in enamel, tooth damage, and staining. Canonical examples of procedures are porcelain crowns to cover broken or damaged teeth, bridges or implants for filling gaps, and whitening by carbamide peroxide.

The argument for finding a cosmetic dentist in Pasadena is that the procedures increases the aesthetic appeal of the teeth, and can also improve one’s self-esteem and strengthen self-confidence. Moreover, defects in teeth can lead to an unbalanced bite that has long term consequences on the jaw. Examples in more detail of cosmetic dental work you may find in Pasadena are given below.

Mesothelioma Survival Is Possible

March 3rd, 2010 Heidi Wingrain Posted in Health No Comments »

Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that is nearly always caused by being exposed to asbestos. In this disease, malignant cells develop in the mesothelium, a protective lining that covers most of the body’s internal organs. Its most common site is the pleura ( outer lining of the lungs and internal chest wall ), but it could also occur in the peritoneum ( the liner of the abdominal cavity ), the heart, the pericardium ( a sac that surrounds the heart ) or tunica vaginalis.

A five year scale is used to calculate mesothelioma survival by the experts of the field. Statistics show that only ten percent of the total patients diagnosed with mesothelioma cancer have reached the target of five years. Mesothelioma survival is based on a couple of varied factors. Some of them are age and general health conditions of the patient, the stage of cancer, and the area affected by the infection.

March 3rd, 2010 Cindy Burgenstein Posted in Health No Comments »

Are you overweight? Do you struggle when you button your pants every morning? Don’t worry, you are in good company. Most of adult Americans today are overweight, or have some kind of weight problem.

Not to mention all the other health problems that come along with being overweight. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, and a host other problems which can be directly related to weight issues.

Why are so many Americans overweight? It wasn’t always like this. In the old days, most people were generally slim. In order to understand why so many more people are overweight now compared to then, we need to look at two major issues.

The first is lifestyle difference. People back then had to work a physically difficult job. Only people that were extremely lucky got jobs where they could sit around all day like most of us do today. People back then really worked up a sweat, every day, for eight hours a day.

If most of us are lucky, and are blessed with superhuman motivation, we go to the gym once or twice a week. The rest of us get little, if any, exercise.

Many, if not most adults today are overweight or clinically obese. Of course, everybody has a different idea of what it means to be overweight. But if you would like to lose just a couple of pounds, or even a hundred pounds or more, this article is for you.

Most nutritionists agree the best way to lose weight, and keep it off, is to simply eat less, and exercise more. If that seems so blatantly obvious, why are so many people overweight?

One reason is that losing weight is looked at by many as something to do once, and then get back to normal. The problem is that unless you change what “normal” is for you, you’re likely to revert back to the same habits that made you overweight in the first place.

It seems then, that the best way would be to change your lifestyle. Of course, any huge change in lifestyle takes a large amount of willpower that most of us just don’t have. So the easy choice to make small, easy to achieve changes.

Understand How SmartLipo Treatment Varies From Normal Liposuction

March 1st, 2010 Jamie McKaye Posted in Health No Comments »

More of us are now seeking out cosmetic surgery. Such procedures were once reserved for the rich and famous but now are widely available in most towns and cities. Apart from the most commonly asked for treatments such as dental work and breast augmentation, liposuction is also a form of cosmetic surgery that is requested by many people. There is now a new form of liposuction called SmartLipo. Before booking any SmartLipo treatment it is essential to understand what it is going to involve.

Any cosmetic surgical treatment is going to result in a certain amount of discomfort and even pain. The great aspect about SmartLipo is that it minimizes the displeasure felt and is less intrusive that other forms of treatment.

Instead of pipes, knives, and incisions being required, SmartLipo uses a laser that can penetrate the outer surface of the skin and destroy fatty deposits. As you can imagine this is far more comfortable for the patient.

Typically you would be given a local anesthetic so that the skin is numbed in the regions at which the laser is pointed at. Most sittings will last between half an hour and one hour.

Everyone is born with the ability to astral project. Most people are not even aware that they are traveling. What you want to learn is to astral project consciously you want to control where you send your astral body and remember what it does.

Assuming you already know what your astral body is and what the astral plane is, let’s learn a few different techniques that will help you astral project. When you astral project, you experience something extremely personal. Because of this, it is very important that you learn which techniques work best for you.

The first technique is one that you can do when you are in bed and getting ready to go to sleep. This is a simple five step process.

*The first thing you want to do is get completely relaxed. You can’t astral project unless you achieve a deep level of relaxation. Lie down in bed, and begin with your toes. Tense them up for a few moments, then consciously relax every muscle. Do the same thing to every muscle, working your way up your body until you finish with your head and face. This may feel unfamiliar at first, but you will soon get used to this method of relaxation. Your body may feel rather heavy. This is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.

Saline Nasal Spray and Prevention of Asthma

February 27th, 2010 Stanley Lang Posted in Health No Comments »

When you think about asthma and you think about spraying saline nasal spray up your nose it may not be apparent how they are connected so to get you thinking about this here is the connection: in some mysterious way sinus infections cause asthma. And it really doesn’t seem to matter what type of sinus infection it is as far as a cause for asthma.

Before we go any farther I would like to discuss sinus infections. There are basically three different kinds of sinus infections. The first is called an “acute” infection. Acute means sudden and that’s kind of how this sinus infection acts. It often happens after a viral URI.

A sub-acute sinus infection will tend to be something that starts to hang on after the first 10 days of an acute sinus infection. By then the person’s immune system has been working hard to get rid of the infection and so the symptoms have died way down- but there is still a lot of nasal symptoms and the person will likely have a “dry” cough. This person usualy isn’t very sick but they’re getting tired of the symptoms.
